Maiko Experience — Tripadvisor #1

The most-reviewed maiko experience program

Preserving the Maiko
Experience for the Future

40 Active maiko in Kyoto

GuideMe Japan is the #1 rated maiko experience provider on Tripadvisor, with the most reviews in the category, earning acclaim from visitors worldwide.

However, our commitment to this business goes beyond providing a tourist experience. Currently, there are only about 40 active maiko in Kyoto. The maiko tradition faces the very real threat of extinction. No one knows how many more years it will endure—and it is with this reality in mind that we continue this work.

When asked why they chose to become a maiko, many give the same answer.

"I was captivated by the maiko I saw on my school trip."

That is why we aim to bring maiko culture not only to international visitors, but also to Japan's younger generation and school trip students. A single experience could change someone's life and shape the future of this culture.

GuideMe Japan is dedicated to protecting and expanding the traditional maiko culture—not as a 'consumable experience,' but as a valuable heritage to pass on to future generations.
